Regulations for the Use of N.I.A. Property and Starkweather House

The NIA is a historical asset to the
Nichols community and its use by organizations and groups in support of the Nichols community is encouraged.

General Regulations:

  • Any request for the use of any NIA properties or facilities must be made through the NIA House Use Chairperson;
  • Requesting members are expected to pay a "house use fee" of $75, which is to be used to offset the costs of maintaining the various NIA properties and facilities;
  • The requesting member is expected to comply with all applicable NIA rules & guidelines regarding the use of NIA properties or facilities;
  • Alcohol on NIA grounds IS NOT permitted under any circumstance;
  • Firearms and/or archery equipment ARE NOT permitted on NIA grounds under any circumstance, except by on-duty public law-enforcement officials;
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to park their vehicles in one of the NIA parking lots;
  • No fires are permitted on NIA grounds without a fire permit AND the express approval of the NIA Executive Board;
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to show common courtesy & consideration to others enjoying the use of NIA properties or facilities;
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to not trespass on neighboring properties while enjoying the use of NIA properties or facilities.

 

Starkweather House :

  • Attendance in the Starkweather House is limited to 45 people;
  • The Starkweather House MUST be vacated by 10:00pm;
  • The set-up & clean-up of the Starkweather House is the responsibility of the requesting member;
  • Smoking IS NOT permitted in the Starkweather House;
  • The use of the fireplace in the Starkweather House IS NOT permitted;
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to be considerate of the tenants who live in the Starkweather House.

 

Grounds:

  • All NIA grounds (excluding the Starkweather House) MUST be vacated by dusk;
  • The use of any motorized vehicles on NIA grounds such as ATV's, dirt bikes, mini-bikes, snowmobiles, etc., IS NOT permitted.;
  • Golf and/or the use of golf clubs is not permitted on NIA grounds;
  • Requesting members and/or their guests are expected to not litter on NIA grounds.
